Tampa Ruby Brigade

Being new to the Tampa area I wanted to get to know the locals. It turns out there are some really talented chaps here in the Tampa area, should make for very interesting meetings. I’m looking forward to it.

The Tampa Ruby Brigade is responsible for the rubybrigade.org website. Pretty impressive stuff, really. So I’m lucky to be so close to these guys and hope to learn all that I can. And make some friends along the way.

Manifesto

Purpose

The purpose of this website is to give me a voice on the web, a place to keep track of my victories and challenges in my career and my life.

There are two sides of my career coin: film and programming. That is where the name of the website and where my online pseudonym comes from.

Right now I pay the rent with programming, but in the future I will supplement that income by selling screenplays. Eventually my writing may supplant my programming career, but it will always be an interest for me.

Film

The study of film has been the focus of my higher education. I graduated May 4th, 2007 from the University of Utah with B.A. in Film Studies.

I will use this website to post my short films, screenplays and critiques of films that I see.

Programming

My study of programming has been largely self directed. I love to learn by doing, otherwise known as trial and error.

The Dichotomy

Both film and programming require discipline and utilize the skills of organization and creativity. An analytical mind reflects upon the code or words already written as you begin to re-factor or re-write.
