Well before the smartphone craze of touch screens, I created a touch screen app for a monitor that was embedded in the wall outside our main conference room.
This would allow you to check what meetings were scheduled for that room, and even schedule a meeting there on the spot.
Also there was an intranet component to this where you could see the current schedule, set repeating meetings, and request new meetings.
